We saw a written message informing there was no visibility and we could change our reservation. We decided to go and see what were our options since we flew out of the city first thing the next morning. No communication was provided by The Edge by email, social media or any other form of communication. We had VIP reservations for this same day including picture, champagne and entrance. Tropical storm Henri impacted the city with rain and a state of emergency was issued. If you're looking for an overpriced pretentious experience, the Edge is definitely the spot! If you want a great view and great experience, visit the Top of the Rock or The Empire State Building instead. We were also offered a discount admission to return to the Top of the Rock. It honestly felt like we were walking through clouds and was quite magical! I might not have been so disappointed in the poor customer service, had I not had similar weather the night we were scheduled to go to The Top of the Rock where the customer service was excellent-they let us go up an hour before hand and stay as long as we wanted. The view was not bad given the cloud cover.

On top of this, we were required to wait for 15 minutes (after the 45 minute wait in line) until our "scheduled time". Needless to say, we went out in "zero visibility". I agreed to do so if I could get tickets that would match the availability in my itinerary but that couldn't be guaranteed until AFTER I paid the difference, and if dates/times I needed were not available my fees were non-refundable. I stood in line for 45 minutes and when I got to the ticket counter to exchange my tickets, was informed I'd have to pay the difference of $6/ticket ($18 total) between my group discount rate and the standard rate. I was told by staff I could wait in line to exchange my tickets for another day or go out in the poor visibility conditions. Unfortunately there was thick cloud cover on the night I booked resulting in zero visibility. I purchased tickets for The Edge in a tour bundle. Was good to see the city from a different view point, but the attraction is not as well managed as the other skyscrapers in Manhattan. There are yet more queues to get in the elevator to get down - we walked up a level to get in the elevator up there, which had less queues. Once up on the platform, it's a great view of the city, and the glass floor area is just a small triangle, and not the whole floor, which I was led to expect. The very nice shops in the mall were closed (I don't know if this is the case every day, or was impacted by the fact that it was New Years Day).

The corridors where you are queueing are ridiculously hot and very noisy, as the walls are basically giant TV screens to emulate an underground subway environment. I now know that this is simply a guide, as you are literally moved from one queue to another whilst waiting for the elevator to go up. We went on New Years Day, so peak time - our entry time was 8.40pm. When you leave be sure to visit Hudson Yards' centerpiece, Vessel, or enjoy a bite to eat or a shopping experience at The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards.Having visited all the other tall building observatories etc before, we decided this time to go for The Edge as we haven't been here before.

Have a seat and hang out in the sky with your friends and family, or head indoors and sip champagne or a signature cocktail at the Champagne Bar. The upper level also features the Skyline Steps, where you can look out over the top of the glass panels and past the edge of the deck. At Edge's furthest point, The Eastern Point, there's space for one person to stand alone, surrounded by glass, air, and sky-you will never have had a picture quite like it. Next, stand on the glass floor and look over 100 stories straight down to the city streets below your feet. Here, frameless glass panel walls are boldly angled outwards to allow you to feel the thrill of leaning out over the edge with the busy city below. Then, head up over 1100 feet to the Observation Deck, and then 80 feet out into the air on the Outdoor Sky Deck.

Get the feeling of floating in the sky and take in the entire Manhattan skyline from Edge's unique vantage point on the western side of Midtown Manhattan.īegin your journey on Level 4 of The Shops at Hudson Yards, where you will enter into an immersive multimedia experience explaining the design, construction, and sustainability of Hudson Yards. Get entry tickets to Edge, a marvel of architecture, engineering, and technology, suspended in mid-air over 1100 feet above the ground.
